* Respect for the skills of others, whatever they may be.
* Meeting and overcoming physical and psychological challenges and fears in a safe and controlled environment.
STRUCTURE

Because we keep the group sizes small, our expert and experienced coaches are able to give everyone individual attention and assistance, as well as developing a sense of teamwork and cooperation. Since few people have any circus skills experience, everyone begins at the same level and moves forward together.
WHAT WE TEACH … WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
There are a multitude of circus skills, some relying totally on the performer's body, and some using props. But in all cases, concentration, focus, balance and coordination are vital factors.
Some of the skills you’ll learn are:

Juggling
The coordination of mind, hand and eye is the secret to good juggling technique, whether with balls, clubs, or hoops. In real life, we juggle everyday, physically and mentally undertaking a number of tasks at one time. Juggling is a great and fun way to sharpen your concentration and focus.

Tight Wire Walking
There’s nothing better than walking on a tight wire to stay focused, alert, and to find balance. Of course, our tight wire is low to the ground and your teammates assist in helping you balance as you glide along the wire, but it’s a great way to live in the moment and accomplish something completely new and different.

Static Trapeze
The trapeze is one of the most romanticized and sought after circus skills, and, although our trapeze remains stationary, we’ll teach you some amazing basics. Fear of heights holding you back from going aloft? Not to worry … our trapeze is not far from the ground and our floor below very well padded. Plus, you’ll have all of your teammates cheering you on and providing support as you perform with the greatest of ease.

Acrobatic Balancing
Acrobatic skill is a basic foundations of circus performance, and while you won’t be doing triple somersaults, we will be building human pyramids. Trust, communication and mutual support are literal requirements in accomplishing this feat, and it’s the tops when it comes to teambuilding and working within a group environment when everyone plays an important part in the structure and balance. This is group fun at its best!

Trampoline
There isn’t anyone anywhere who doesn’t like the dynamic energy and challenge of the trampoline. It’s not always about soaring high and doing spectacular twists and somersaults, it’s also about quick thinking, balancing, and following detailed directions from the instructor. The harder you work, the higher you go!

Plate Spinning
Even if you have restaurant experience, you’ll find that plate spinning isn’t as easy as it looks. This is about balancing and controlling the dynamics of a prop. It requires a keen eye and sense of touch and lots of coordination.
Stilt Walking
Stilt walking is like learning to walk all over again using the same physical motor skills, but discovering a new and dynamic pacing and approach. It won’t be long, though, before you fall into the rhythm and will see the world form a new perspective. Once again, your teammates will be by your side giving you a hand!
A WORD ABOUT SAFETY …
Safety is the primary concern at the Sandou Theatrical Circus School and our Circus workshops. We will always work with each individual’s level of fitness and physical capabilities, and our experienced and professional coaches and instructors are with you every step of the way.
